In its 30th anniversary year, Cornwall’s Sharp’s Brewing Co has racked up an impressive medal haul at this year’s International Beer Challenge.

Sharp's Chalky's Bite

This follows on from recognition at the World Beer Awards last month, where five awards were picked up. At the International Beer Challenge, Sharp’s took away a silver for Chalky’s Bite and Doom Bar, and bronze for Doom Bar Zero.

The competition is judged by a panel of industry experts, including brewers, sommeliers, and beer writers, who assess each entry on its quality, flavour, and character.

The silver medal for Chalky’s Bite, the vibrant Belgian-style beer named in honour of seafood chef Rick Stein’s dog, highlights the beer’s unique blend of coriander, citrus, and hop character. Incidentally, it is also Sharp’s most celebrated beer across the entire portfolio, having won more than 20 awards since launching in 2006.

Shrp's Doom Bar

Doom Bar, Sharp’s flagship amber ale, continues to impress, taking home a silver accolade for quality and consistency, while Doom Bar Zero, garnering widespread acclaim for its balanced and refreshing taste, was recognised with a bronze medal.

“We are absolutely thrilled to have received four medals at this year’s International Beer Challenge, not to mention five at last month’s World Beer Awards,” said Sharp’s technical brewer, Jonathan Wide.

“At Sharp’s, we pride ourselves on creating high-quality, innovative beers, and to see our efforts recognised on an international scale is a true testament to the hard work and passion of our brewing team.”
